Sturdy Comics @ San Diego Comic-Con

Comic-Con is almost here and I'll be sharing a table with some of my buddies in the small press area. We're listed under Sturdy Comics, table O-15.

The Barry Ninja comic which I did the cover for (see earlier post) will be on sale there with a limited edition cut out cover too! In addition to that, other comics such as the Society of Unordinary Young Ladies will be sold, shirts, and I myself will be selling a different version of the WANTED prints there (among other products).

We're also right next to the Bumperboy table, which is O-16. Debbie will have goodies for you as well.

My other friend Lark Pien, Little Bird Books will also be there, table
P-1 with awesome paintings, comics and assorted goods.

Hope to see you there!

(at left is an older piece from '02, which is comics related so I thought I'd post it)

Mischief @ STUDIO Gallery in S.F.

Mishief
characters, critters & cartoons under $400

July 16th - August 10th, 2008
Opening reception Saturday, July 19th, 4pm-8pm

STUDIO Gallery
1718A Polk Street
San Francisco, CA 94109
415.931.3130

Below is a preview of what I submitted for the show. The jpeg shows them all together, but they are actually 4 entirely seperate silkscreen print posters at 11 by 17 inches. What the image also doesn't show is that the "Wanted" on the top was screened in a rich red color and the greys were screened in a muted medium tone blue. The outlines and text were screened in a deep dark blue. These are a limited edition run of 10 each, so get 'em while you can!

A list of other participating artists can be found here. Come on through as there is a wide variety of work from paintings, jewelry, prints and sculpture! Jennifer from STUDIO Gallery said there are over 50 local artists in the show from the Bay Area!

Anthony Hon's Barry

The Adventures of Barry the Benevolent Ninja by my good friend Anthony Hon. What started out as a fun excercise for him turned into a full blown one-shot comic! I was honored that he asked me to do the cover and left it completely up to me on what to do. This is what I came up with and thankfully, he loved it. My goal here was 3 things. 1) Make it simple and striking. 2) Tell the reader about what makes Barry different. 3) Pay an homage to the old 80's ninja films.

I had fun doing it and Anthony told me that the printed cover is looking good. Barry will be sold at the Sturdy Comics table at San Diego Comic-Con which happens July 23 - 27, 2008. I don't have the table number as of yet, but as soon as I do, I will post it here. I also made a link to the Comic-Con website in the top left corner of the blog next to the "Home" and "About Me" links.
